Paparazzo movie questions

  • Are you obsessed with celebrities? why/why not?
    • I am not obsessed with celebrities because I don't pay attention to celebrity gossip or anything of that sort.
  • Why do you think we celebrate celebrities?
    • Because we think that celebrities are at a higher moral level because they are constantly putting out images of their best selves, while every regular person is just regular.
  • Is it ok for celebrities to tip off the media to generate more publicity for themselves and elevate their status as a celebrity? why/why not?
    • I think it is ok because they are adapting to their current situation and increasing the odds of success or amounts of publicity for themselves.
  • Is it ok to exploit the negative things that celebrities do in order to sell magazines and does this exploitation of these acts degrade the values of society? why/why not?
    • I think it is ok because being a celebrity means that you "signed up" for having the paparazzi follow you and bring up the good and bad situations you have in your life.
  • Do you agree with the statement "gossip is about the people doing the gossiping not who they are gossiping about" why/why not?
    • I do not agree with this statement because they are talking negatively about the person they are gossiping about, not about situations in their own life
  • What is a para-social relationship?
    • A para-social relationship is a relationship where everything is one-sided, on the side of the media
  • Do you engage in any para-social relationships?
    • no I do not engage in para social relationships because I do not pay attention to the media
  • Do you think that our constant connection to media (social and other) creates a false reality for ourselves and how can we keep this from happening?
    • I think it does create a bit of illusion, and it is very easy to prevent this. Just stop paying so much attention to the media.
  • Your digital footprint is really your personal brand (combination of all your social media content) and you start building it when you start using social media, does your personal brand reflect who you really are, does it reflect who you want to be, neither, or both.
    • I would say my personal social media account reflects who I really am because it is my account, and I posted pictures of myself where I look good in and that represent y personality
  • Your digital footprint/personal brand will stay with you for your entire life, do you monitor it closely and build it carefully or carelessly?
    • I don't really care about my digital footprint because I can just delete my Instagram posts and nobody will be able to see them anymore
  • Given that we have access to cameras and the internet constantly, are there ethics that should be followed when taking photographs? why/why not?
    • If someone really doesn't want their picture taken, then you should delete it, but personally, I do not care if someone takes a picture of me without my knowledge.
  • Given what you know about photos and manipulation (electronic, situational, etc) do you agree with the statement "A picture is worth a 1,000 lies." why/why not?
    • It depends on the picture.  If my friends took a picture of me, then there are no lies because none of them would waste their time or money learning or getting someone to photo edit the photo.  But pictures in the media are probably untrustworthy because photoshop is common.
